Several times a year, our club receives requests to repair models. These are often family heirlooms, built by dad or grandad, and have a lot of sentimental value, but maybe little monetary value. Some of our members have taken it upon themselves to help these people, restoring these models.
If you have a model in need of cleaning or repair, feel free to contact us to see if it’s something we can help you with.
Emma C. Berry
The repair of the Emma C Berry was a unique challenge as it was damaged in a house fire.
To speed the repair effort it was spilt between club members with one repairing the thin balsa wood hull, another rebuilding the deckhouses and furniture, and another making the sails. Repairs were aided by being provided an identical kit of the ship for replacement parts.
This was repaired back in the Covid era. Member Jacob Cohn completed the delicate thin hull repair and painting. Club President Jim Rhetta made the deckhouses and member Clare Hess made the sails for it.

The completed model, shortly before it was delivered to the owner.
